Creative. Director. Human Storyteller.
Bio
I’m Janna Stolp - a Dutch creative director, filmmaker and co-founder of Popcorn Collective. I help brands tell human stories through branding, campaigns and film. After more than 15 years at agencies like BSUR, Virtue (by VICE Media) and Wefilm, I now work independently with brands, agencies and production companies.
I’ve developed and led campaigns for brands like Dove, Libresse, Albert Heijn, Bol.com, Nationale‑Nederlanden, Tabasco, Moxy Hotels and Rijksmuseum. Whether it’s a 360 campaign, a social‑first concept or a brand story from scratch, I love guiding ideas from insight to execution.
Alongside my commercial work, I’m passionate about making documentaries that explore societal and taboo topics. In 2020 I created my first short documentary When the Birds Are Gone, selected for multiple international film festivals. In 2024 I directed But You Were There, a film about the emotional impact of miscarriage, broadcasted by NTR and NPO.
In 2026 me and Danique Gunning launched Popcorn Collective, a creative studio dedicated to human storytelling. We help growing companies shape the story behind their business – building brands people actually care about.
I love switching between these creative worlds and letting them feed into one another. It keeps my work alive and evolving. Since 2024 I’ve been based in Nairobi. Living here has humbled me, broadened my perspective, and even taught me some Swahili :)
Based in Kenya (GMT+3), I am open to freelance or interim projects globally or in the East African region.
